2. What’s the most interesting part of your town/village?

3. What kind of jobs do the people in your town/village do?

The people in my town/village are primarily engaged in agricultural activities. Farming is the backbone of our local economy, with many residents involved in cultivating crops, tending to livestock, and running family-owned businesses related to agriculture. Additionally, there are also small businesses catering to the needs of the community.

4. Would you say it’s a good place to live? (Why?)

I would definitely say it’s a great place to live. The tight-knit community fosters a strong sense of belonging and support. The peaceful surroundings and natural beauty make it an ideal place for those seeking a slower pace of life. Moreover, the availability of fresh produce from local farms and the opportunity to connect with nature through outdoor activities adds to the quality of life in this town.

5. Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in?

I live in a cozy two-bedroom cottage situated on the outskirts of the town. It has a rustic charm with a thatched roof and a small garden. The interior is well-furnished and provides a comfortable living space for my family.

6. How long have you lived there?

I have lived in this accommodation for the past five years. It has become our home, and we have grown fond of its unique character and the tranquility it offers.

7. What do you like about living there?

Describe something you own which is very important to you. You should say:

I received this pocket watch as a gift from my grandfather on my 18th birthday. He had inherited it from his own father, making it a cherished family heirloom. I remember the moment he handed it to me, his eyes filled with pride and nostalgia. He told me stories about how his father used to carry it with him every day and how it had been passed down through generations.

I have had this pocket watch for nearly ten years now, and it has become an integral part of my daily life. I use it not only to keep track of time but also as a reminder of my family’s history and values. Whenever I take it out of my pocket and open its delicate case, I feel a deep connection to my ancestors and a sense of continuity.

1. What kind of things give status to people in your country?

In my country, several factors contribute to the status of individuals. One significant factor is educational attainment. Obtaining a higher education degree, especially from prestigious universities, is highly regarded and considered a symbol of knowledge and accomplishment. Additionally, occupation and professional success also play a crucial role in determining status. Holding influential positions, earning a high income, or running a successful business are often seen as indicators of social standing. Material possessions such as luxurious cars, expensive houses, and fashionable clothing also contribute to a person’s status, although the importance of these possessions has somewhat diminished over time.

2. Have things changed since your parents’ time?

Yes, there have been significant changes since my parents’ time. In the past, social status was primarily associated with traditional markers such as wealth, material possessions, and social connections. The emphasis was on external symbols of success. However, in recent years, there has been a notable shift in societal values. People now place greater importance on personal growth, education, experiences, and social impact. The focus has shifted towards individual achievements, philanthropy, and making a positive difference in society. Consequently, the criteria for status have expanded beyond material possessions to encompass personal development and contributions to the community.

3. Do you think advertising influences what people buy?

Yes, advertising undoubtedly influences people’s buying decisions. Through various mediums such as television, radio, print media, and online platforms, advertising creates awareness, shapes perceptions, and encourages consumers to purchase specific products or services. Advertisements often utilize persuasive techniques, captivating visuals, and compelling narratives to appeal to consumers’ desires and needs. They create a sense of urgency and convince individuals that a particular product or service will enhance their lives or fulfill their aspirations. However, while advertising has a significant impact, individuals’ buying decisions are also influenced by factors such as personal preferences, needs, budget constraints, and peer recommendations. Consumers are becoming more discerning and seek additional information beyond advertisements to make informed choices.
